How stress and insomnia can create a vicious cycle

It’s not unusual for people who have a lot of stress in their lives to also experience insomnia.  And the link is about more than just worry and tension keeping our thoughts busy too!  

The problem is that our bodies can’t tell the difference between a physical threat and a mental one.  So their biochemical response to stress involves flooding our bloodstreams with a cocktail of hormones that include adrenaline and cortisol.
